Ham and Pea Soup
Soup season is here and it's time to dig in!

- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 onion diced
- 1 lb Garrett Valley Farms Spiral Sliced Holiday Ham or Black Forest Ham Nugget diced
- 1 lb dried split peas
- 1 quart chicken stock
- 2 cups water
- salt
- pepper
Over medium heat, melt butter in a big soup pot.
Add diced onions. Cook slowly until the onions are clear but haven't turned brown yet - about 6 minutes.
Add ham and split peas. Mix together. Add in chicken stock and water. Simmer slowly until the peas are tender and the soup thickens, stirring occasionally - about an hour and 20 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
